      The Lamb began trading as a public house probably as early as the 12th Century. By 1870 it was already well established as a posting inn that supplied 300 post horses for coaches going to and from London and the West Country.       A flag stoned bar with authentic timber beams and a log fire. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the bar area at the discretion of the staff. It has a dining room off the bar and a restaurant (King Charles Room with full waitress service). The George Inn has a half-timbered appearance, but the 16th century building is actually stone built and has a facing to give it the appearance of being timber-framed. The original building dates from c.1580. The present facade dates from c.1920 and the inn was further modified in both the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1651 Charles II stayed here when he was fleeing after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester and the pub renamed from Talbot to George. Toilets require a 6 digit access code from bar staff

      Timber-framed and originally several cottages, parts of the building have stood here since the 14c but it has only been used as a public house for around 200 years. There are two bars: one at the front and one at the rear of the building which serves the dining area. A large, well-kept garden extends to the Cathedral Close wall with a fire pit used on weekend evenings. At one time housed those working on the cathedral. There is a glass viewing area in the main bar showing the foundations of the building. Renowned for being the first pub in Salisbury to go 'Non-smoking' in around 1990.

      Friendly local pub that is also close to Salisbury College. This was the only public house in the country to be licensed under two official names. Look at the sign hanging outside. The Railway name refers to its proximity to the now closed goods railway station. There was also a coal delivery yard, and the dust from the coal used to be blown into the bar so it was known by the locals as the 'Dust Hole'.
